Fashion Design Camp 2012
Welcome to
Fashion Design Camp!
Do You have a budding Coco Chanel or Giorgio Armani in your home?  Welcome to fashion design camp, a unique hands-on workshop where kids and teens, boys and girls learn all about all aspects of the fashion design industry.  Each student will produce his or her own fashion line from concept to creation with plenty of inspiration and playful experimentation along the way.  Following the guidance of expert instruction and their own imagination campers will: brianstorm ideas, and sketch designs, make patterns, choose and cut fabric, construct and sew, and MODEL their creation in a real fashion show!

Fashion Design Camp 1
"Steam Punk Style meets Time Travel"
  Old West Inspired
June 11th - 15th
Cost: $175.00   REGISTER NOW
Old west meets Victorian age meets Sci-Fi....  During this week of Fashion Design Camp kids and teens will explore creative answers to the question: What if Old West era people had the ability to make common everyday objects we wear and use today?  What would this look like?  What would the purpose be?  Campers will work this week with SBAP resident artist and local costume designer Alexandra Scibetta Quigley designing from scratch and upcycling to create their own " Time Travel " fashion line with a touch of old west theatrics.
Students will need to bring these supplies: old pair of sunglasses, new or used hat (no baseball caps please), over-sized mens plaid shirt,  5 yards of tulle (pick a color from shirt to coordinate), 1 white t-shirt (new or used), 1 roll of duck tape (any color or print).  Old watches, keys, and trinkets are encouraged but not required.

Fashion Design Camp 2
"Into the Wild, Fashion Safari"
July 16th - 20th
Cost: $175.00   REGISTER NOW
Come into the wild areas of the world like the Amazon Rainforest, the African desert, Outback Australia, or the Arctic Tundra.  This week kids and teens will choose an animal totem that represents themselves and translate that into their own fashion line with unexpected twists!  Students this week will work closely with design influences from Sarah Rye Bliss (Exectutive Director & Pattern Designer) and Alexandra Scibetta Quigley, SBAP resident artist and costume designer.  A strong emphasis this week will be placed on constructing and designing patterns.  (We have specific lessons planned to assist students in choosing their animal totem, and ask that kids and teens wait until camp starts to choose an animal totem.)
Students will need to bring these supplies: used sunglasses, 5 yards of white tulle, 3 yards of white cotton fabric, 1 white t-shirt (new or used)
