South Broadway Art Project

Art After School
Art After School focuses on using the arts and professional artists to broaden the worlds of young people, build their self esteem, ignite creativity, develop life skills, reinforce academics, and offer alternatives to inactivity.  South Broadway Art Project is going beyond our organization to build partnerships with schools (elementary through college level), public and private agencies, and businesses to form an alliance of support and growth that can strengthen the entire community.

There is nothing more gratifying for a child to create something that is entirely and uniquely their own.  By participating in the arts in a positive environment, young people can open, grow, and accept the world.  Art After School unlocks creativity in children that otherwise may have never been given the opportunity.  Art activities are not confined within our studio walls and gallery.  Familair neighborhood sites are waiting to be touched by an artist.  Young people will learn how to use art in small ways to enhance their community.  Ultimately our Art After School Program provides a safe place for young people to dream, create, experiment, build self esteem, and do things that feed the soul.  Not every child is a success story.  However the arts can reach every child in a positive way.

Art After School provides
these opportunities:

Makes students aware of art and
    their surroundings

    Encourages the creative spirit

    Reinforces academics

    Celebrates individuality

    Awareness and understanding
    of art in cultural heritage

    Provides an outlet to release
    energy in a positive way
